Winexpert LE 26

Amici Italy

This Italian red blend brings together several of Italy’s celebrated grapes—Montepulciano, Aglianico, and Sangiovese—creating a wine that is harmonious and expressive. Dark, ripe fruit flavors are complemented by bright cherry notes, while savory and herbal nuances add depth. Firm tannins and medium acidity provide structure, and the generous use of oak lends a rich, layered character, resulting in a full-bodied yet balanced wine.

Italy’s diverse wine regions allow each grape to express its unique character. From the rolling hills of central Italy to the sun-soaked south, soils rich in clay and limestone support healthy vines. Warm days and cooler nights help preserve acidity and balance, making the country renowned for producing structured, aromatic red blends.

This wine’s signature food pairing is spaghetti bolognese with Parmigiano-Reggiano, but it’s also a great match for roast chicken with fresh garlic and herbs, or grilled zucchini and peppers.

Varietal Aglianico

The noble grape of southern Italy, Aglianico is considered to be one of Italy's three greatest grapes along with Nebbiolo and Sangiovese. If Nebbiolo is the king of Northern Italy- Aglianico is King of the South! Aglianico makes wine of incredible quality with notes of black cherry, white pepper, smoke and plum. The wines are dry, full-bodied with good tannic structure. A wine to be savoured!

Varietal Montepulciano

The second most popular red grape planted in Italy- Montpulciano is as medium-full bodied wine often known for red fruit, cherry and plum and herbal notes with rich flavours and decent tannins. And of course pairs with Italian foods!

Varietal Sangiovese

Sangiovese is the feature grape of Chianti and originates in the Tuscan region of Italy. On its own or featured in Chianti, Sangiovese wines are usually bone-dry with high acidity and medium body and tannin levels. Not surprising- Sangiovese wines are wonderful with pizza and pasta.

Region Italy

Italy is an ‘Old World’ growing region making a variety of styles of wine. Famous for the white Pinot Grigio grape and of course its reds including Amarone, Sangiovese, Nebbiolo and others. Of course Italian wines pair very well with Italian foods.

Sweetness Dry

Dry wines like Cabernet and Pinot Grigio have no perceptible amount of sweetness to the drinker and will often be detected as having a drying character in the mouth.

Body Full

The big wines that can stand on their own. Often premium wines with higher tannins, alcohol levels and oaking levels as they all factor in a bigger tasting wine.

Oak Heavy

Big reds like Cabernet and ultra premium wines will have higher levels of oak as it adds to the complexity and finish that wine drinkers expect.
