Winexpert Limited Edition Cabernet Merlot from Wala Wala, Washington is a classic combination. Robust Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure and black fruit flavours while complementary Merlot softens Cab’s high tannin and acidity and adds juicy fruit and texture. The result is a beautiful blend showing aromas of black currant with hints of dried herb and toasted almond. The palate is stacked with layers of deep cherry, black fruit, baking spice and mocha. A concentrated and seamless blend with silky tannin.
This wine’s signature food pairing is pecan & parmesan stuffed Mushrooms but it’s also a great match for pepper crusted steak, beef or mushroom stroganoff, or your favourite burger.

The benchmark wine of France’s Bordeaux region and California, Cabernet contends as the greatest red wine of the world and is grown in almost every winemaking region on the planet. Cabernet typically features notes of black fruits, firm tannins and is often oaked. Each growing region typically has its own ‘interpretation’ of this impressive wine.
Another classic grape from the Bordeaux region of France, Merlot is now the most widely planted red grape in the world! Merlot wines range from very approachable, young drinking, soft wines to big, dense block-busters. There is a place for Merlot in everyone’s wine rack!
Walla Walla sits on Washington’s southern border, dipping slightly into Oregon. Cab and Merlot are widely planted here, where the long growing season allows these grapes to reach optimal ripeness. Hot days develop ripe fruit flavours while cool nights help lock in acidity, keeping fruit in focus. Cab grown here is known for being fruitier and less astringent and the Merlot shows a more boisterous body and rich fruitiness.
Dry wines like Cabernet and Pinot Grigio have no perceptible amount of sweetness to the drinker and will often be detected as having a drying character in the mouth.
Typically wines featuring grapes that naturally have bigger flavours and may have higher tannins, oaking or alcohol levels.
Most red wines will have at least a medium oak level as it is an expected part of the taste of a red wine.
