VineCo Global Passport 2025

Pinot Grigio Gewürztraminer

Available January 2025 – Reservation Deadline has Passed!

Meet the intriguing blend that marries the freshness of Pinot Grigio with the rich aromatics of Gewürztraminer. This wine starts with zesty citrus fruit and lychee on the nose, followed by green apple, sweet tropical fruit and delicate floral notes on the palate. The Gewürztraminer adds a subtle spicy note that brings complexity to this fruit forward blend while the Pinot Grigio keeps the wine fun and fresh. This wine is clean and crisp with bright acidity and a long lingering finish that excites the senses.

Located in the heart of California’s Central Valley, the Lodi region has a long history of producing high quality and diverse wines. The region enjoys a Mediterranean climate with warm sunny days and cool nights. The sandy loam soils and reliable water supply create optimal growing conditions for producing ripe and vibrant fruit. The climate allows the Pinot Grigio to retain its bright fresh character while the Gewürztraminer develops intense aromatics, showing these grape varietals are a true match to this region.

This wine’s signature food pairing is crab cakes with mango salsa but it’s also a great match for caprese salad, or camembert.

Varietal Gewürztraminer

Although not an easy grape to grow- it is definitely worth the effort. Gewürztraminer is unmistakable in its heady, aromatic intensity, with a fragrance of lychee, tropical fruit and even rose petals. A very unique off-dry wine that is very, very drinkable. It’s a perfect wine to enjoy with spicy dishes and is a treat with a simple snack like salted nuts or potato chips.

Varietal Pinot Grigio

Known as Pinot Gris in France, this cousin of the Chardonnay grape is now more readily known as Pinot Grigio (the Italian version). Pinot Gris typically offers good fruit and medium body while Pinot Grigio wines are lively, zippy and crisp. Both are great with a variety of foods and are a great sipper on a hot summer day. Pinot Grigios and Pinot Gris are currently Canada's favourite white wines.

Region Lodi, California

Grapes have long been a part of the Lodi landscape, where bountiful wild vines used to grow along riverbanks. From the first planted vines in the mid-1800s, the region has flourished into a world-class producer, with most of the land dedicated to red wine grape varieties. Lodi’s grapes benefit from a Mediterranean climate of warm days and cool nights, and a dry growing season which allows growers to precisely manage vine growth through irrigation. Two mountain-fed rivers run through the region bringing rich granite-based minerals to the soil which lend complex flavours to the grapes.

Sweetness Dry

Dry wines like Cabernet and Pinot Grigio have no perceptible amount of sweetness to the drinker and will often be detected as having a drying character in the mouth.

Body Medium

Great for food, medium bodied wines typically have alcohol levels below 14% and less oak.

Oak None

No oak is present as is the case for most whites, rosés and light, fruity reds.
