Citrus and tropical aromas carry through to a lively palate. Pinot Gris brings melon and pear, while Verdelho adds tropical fruit. Notes of pineapple, guava, and citrus are lifted by green apple and subtle spice. Silky texture, crisp acidity, and a light mineral note create a refreshing finish.
Verdelho thrives in Riverland’s warm Mediterranean climate. Hot days promote ripening, while cool nights help retain acidity – crucial for Pinot Gris. The winding Murray River provides reliable irrigation in this dry region, nourishing fertile loam and clay soils. These conditions produce fully ripened grapes, yielding fresh, fruit-driven wines.
This wine’s signature food pairing is thai red curry chicken but it’s also a great match for shrimp vermicelli bowls , or a pear, walnut, and goat cheese salad.

Pinot Gris in France, this cousin of the Chardonnay grape is now more readily known as Pinot Grigio (the Italian version). Pinot Gris typically offers good fruit and medium body while Pinot Grigio wines are lively, zippy and crisp. Both are great with a variety of foods and are a great sipper on a hot summer day. Pinot Grigios and Pinot Gris are currently Canada's favourite white wines.
Verdelho is a Portuguese white wine grape producing dry, crisp wines with high acidity, citrus, and tropical fruit flavours, often showing notes of honeysuckle and minerality, though styles vary by region. While historically associated with Madeira for fortified wines, it's now also made as a dry table wine in Australia, known for its tanginess, and in Portugal's Vinho Verde region as a light, aromatic style.
Southern Australia’s picturesque wine region is located east of the Barossa Valley and extends for over 300km along the Murray River. This long-established region has more Chardonnay plantings than all the Southern wine growing regions combined in Australia. Chardonnay from this region is vibrant with ripe flavours and oak is often used to support the richness of the wines and add further complexity. Riverland’s continental climate, flat terrain and long hours of sunshine mean the vines receive consistent, quality sunlight, greatly reducing their chance of disease and ensuring fully ripe, flavourful fruit. The Riverland region is the largest producer of wine in all of Australia. The scenic region is located east of the Barossa Valley and extends along the Murray River for more than 300km. The hot, dry continental climate with endless sunshine and cool nights makes the region one of the most perfect places for growing grapes. With minimal rainfall in the region the Murray River provides much-needed water to the area’s vineyards to help irrigate the vines to ensure fully ripe and flavourful fruit. It a place that where citrus and stone fruit tress are abundant and where world class grapes are grown alongside the wildlife filled wetland and the mighty Murray River.
Dry wines like Cabernet and Pinot Grigio have no perceptible amount of sweetness to the drinker and will often be detected as having a drying character in the mouth.
Great for food, medium bodied wines typically have alcohol levels below 14% and less oak.
No oak is present as is the case for most whites, rosés and light, fruity reds.
