Winexpert Private Reserve

Super Tuscan, Tuscany, Italy

This Super Tuscan is another classic from the Winexpert Private Reserve collection. A Super-Tuscan styled wine vinted from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese and other native Italian varieties. Fermented on Yakima crushed Merlot grapes. A big, full-bodied wine with solid structure and bold fruit notes. Complex cassis, plum and cherry notes balance the bold tannins. French and American oaks contribute toasty vanilla and greater depth in this intense wine.

Varietal Super Tuscan

The unnofficial star of Italy- Super Tuscans are actually Italian wines that are blended with grapes that are not indigenous to Italy. Although the blends can vary they often include Italy's native Saniovese and Cabernet Sauvigon, Merlot and Syrah which are native to France. Super Tuscan wines are rich and full-bodied with well-integrated tannins with lovely spice notes from oak.

Region Tuscany, Italy

Tuscany Italy, where foodies and wine lovers bask in the beauty and bounty of the land. The growing season is by definition Mediterranean. Warm sunny days and cool nights benefit the grapes, contributing to the glowing reputation of Tuscany’s wines. While the land has challenged soil conditions, this benefits the region resulting in lower yields and higher quality wines loved by critics worldwide.

Sweetness Dry

Dry wines like Cabernet and Pinot Grigio have no perceptible amount of sweetness to the drinker and will often be detected as having a drying character in the mouth.

Body Full

The big wines that can stand on their own. Often premium wines with higher tannins, alcohol levels and oaking levels as they all factor in a bigger tasting wine.

Oak Heavy

Big reds like Cabernet and ultra premium wines will have higher levels of oak as it adds to the complexity and finish that wine drinkers expect.
