Varietal Rhone Blends

Wines like VIeux Chateau du Roi and “GSMs” are based on the blends from the famous Rhone region of France. You will always find the Syrah/Shiraz grape at home in these great wines. Rhone style blends generally range from full flavoured and easy to drink to rich complex wines with hints of spice and firm tannins.

Region France

France is the world's most well known ‘Old World’ growing region and perhaps the most respected in the world. France is famous for their Bordeaux, Burgundy and Rhone growing regions amongst others. French wines are structured and balanced with the fruit, tannins and the terroir of the growing region. Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and more all find homes in France.

Sweetness Dry

Dry wines like Cabernet and Pinot Grigio have no perceptible amount of sweetness to the drinker and will often be detected as having a drying character in the mouth.

Body Medium-Full

Typically wines featuring grapes that naturally have bigger flavours and may have higher tannins, oaking or alcohol levels.

Oak Medium

Most red wines will have at least a medium oak level as it is an expected part of the taste of a red wine.
